From Email To Social Networking?

You know, one of the greatest failings with text based email is that you are confined to words.

And, although when use correctly, words can evoke powerful emotional responses, it can be frustrating to send out an email and not know how many people read it or how many people found it relevant or useful.

The very best communication is two way, it's about a relationship between the writer and the reader. I find email to be very limiting.

That's why I've been experimenting with social media sites.

Social media sites such as Facebook, allow you to have conversations with people, they allow you to communicate with immediacy. You can actually see a picture of who you are talking to, you can get to know the person behind the name when you check out individual profiles.

I'd really like to shift my emphasis from broadcasting emails to getting to know you personally, being able to build a relationship and perhaps collaborating with you.

So, I'm asking you to become my "friend" on Facebook.

If you haven't already set up your Facebook profile, do it RIGHT NOW.

I intend to use Facebook more and more to keep you informed and I'll be making special announcements on Facebook that you probably won't see anywhere else. So do become a "Friend" and then, when you've signed up – and if you use FireFox – grab this great Toolbar. It makes your Facebook experience much more interesting.

I look forward to getting to know you personally.
