Good Writing – Art Or Science?
While I'm sure there are "formulas" that apply to writing, I'm also sure that good writing also requires a certain amount of creative ability. One of my writing "secrets" is reading a lot. I read at least one book every week and the books I read cover an eclectic range of topics. Reading lots of different books makes me a much better writer, not because I dissect every writers work, but because reading helps to grow my knowledge, my vocabulary and exposes me to lots if different writing styles.
Talking about writing secrets, I was chatting with Bev Clement on Skype the other day and happened to remind her that she was approaching her 7,000th post on the Warrior Forum. I asked her if she planned anything significant to mark the occasion. Bev said it was "Top secret" (In other words she hadn't a clue!). As Bev is such a good writer I suggested that she write "7 Secrets To Effective Writing" and before I knew what was happening that turned into 7 writers each contribute a secret to Bev's book and I got roped into making a contribution!
Well, I'm delighted to say that that Bev's finished putting everything together, I've just read the completed product and it contains some great ideas from people who actually walk the talk. Given that the Internet is about content then we all need to be good writers. The 7 Secrets To Effective Writing will help you to write better articles, better blog posts, better newsletters, better products and you'll discover something that I've only ever told a handful of friends about.
