I thought The Olympics Was A Sports Event?

The Olympic torch relay through western Europe started in London on Sunday with angry protests against China's actions in Tibet.

Why did the torch have to go anywhere near Downing Street?

The Olympics is a sports event not a political event, but presumably Mr Brown thought it would help his image to be associated with the excellence of the Olympics.

Maybe he should concentrate on influencing political change in Tibet?
