Marketing Mise en Place
I was preparing supper this evening and I like to have everything I need ready in advance. The french call that preparation "Mise en Place" and, literally translated, that means put in place.
While preparing my evening meal, I got to thinking about the way that some people go headlong into Internet Marketing without any plan or preparation whatsoever. These are the kind of people who eat a lot of ready meals, or fast food, because they don't have the foresight or discipline to look at a recipe and buy their ingredients in advance.
Just as eating out or buying ready meals is expensive, so is failing to properly plan for your online business!
I heard a great quote on TV last night when I was watch "Neil Morrissey's Risky Business" Neil and his Partner Richard Fox have bought a country pub and they are installing a micro brewery to brew and sell their own beer. Neil said "We've found a gap in the market, but is there a market in the gap?"
Isn't that a great question to ask before you go charging into a new market?
It's critically important that you fully investigate a market before you invest both financially and emotionally in that market. Check out the demand, ensure that there are enough people with money to spend, look at your competition and work out if the potential profit exceeds the cost of acquiring a customer.
Have you done all the necessary preparation?
There's a great new guide by Matt Levenhagen called "Niche Authority" and it's a guide that I've printed out and added my own notes to. For the next few days you can get it as part of a special firesale package. Believe me, you'll be really glad to have added it to your digital library!
By the way, it's worth registering just to grab all the free stuff on offer.
