My Favourite Desktop Tools
Having just bought a new Dell laptop, I've spend some of the weekend installing my favourite desktop tools.
- The Firefox Browser with the DownThemAll, GMail Checker, Google Toolbar and SEO Quake plugins
- OpenOffice.org - the equivalent of Microsoft Office without the associated cost; and. it has a built in PDF engine which makes ebook production a breeze.
- TextPad which is a very powerful and flexible text editor - great for writing articles and editing HTML and PHP code.
- ClipMate which is an essential research tool. It adds everything you copy to your clipboard to a database - this means you can collate and edit all that copied information into one document.
- Camtasia Studio 5 - another product develpopment tool that I just couldn't operate without. I also use it for product demonstrations, promotional videos and instructional videos.
- Macromedia Dreamweaver & Fireworks bundle - probably the best What You See Is What You Get HTML editor and image manipulator. I use it to build, edit and manage all of my website.
- Skype - yet another essential tool. It helps me to keep in touch with family, friends, clients, business partners and all of my freelance suppliers. When you add HotRecorder to Skype, you get another great package that enables you to record Skype calls to creat audio products such as podcasts.
What are your favourite desktop tools?
