Notice Of Intended Prosecution Without Due Care And Attention

Well I telephoned Merseyside Police and explained that I was somewhat surprised to receive a Notice Of Intented Prosecution, especially as neither myself nor my car had been anywhere near Liverpool on that day. Or indeed in the last few years!

I must admit I was amazed to receive another letter from them this morning..

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: Notice Of Intented Prosecution:C12345678

I refer to your recent letter in connection with the above mentioned Notice Of Intended Prosecution.

It would appear that the vehicle registration has been misinterpreted, causing our enquiries to be directed at you.

I can confirm that as far as you are concerned no further action will be taken in respect of this notice and any inconvinience is regretted.

Yours faithfully

Manager
Camera Enforcement Office

Well Mr Manager, Camera Enforcement Office..

First of all, I have a name and it would have been polite to use it.

Secondly, I didn't write a letter, I telephoned.

Thirdly, does "misinterpreted" mean that someone cocked up?

Fourthly, "any incovenience is regretted" by whom?

And finally, where's my apology?  What are you going to do about wasting my time and getting me all hot and bothered about being prosecuted? Let alone the cost of the phone call!

Perhaps in future they can demonstrate more due care and attention - just like us drivers have to.  ;)

John, they should also pay due care and attention to their spelling too - "inconvinience"!
