The Changing Face Of The Content Landscape
Our audiences are becoming much more discerning, our readers are looking for content that they can trust. Content that engages your reader will entertain, enlighten, educate them.
To engage your target audience, your reade, your subscribers, your customers.. you need to provide them with not just what they want, but also what they need. Your job is to over-deliver not just once.. but repeatedly.
The most engaging content overlaps all three critical elements:

As you can see from the diagramme, the more that you are able to overlap educational, enlightening and entertaining content the greater the likelihood that you will engage your reader.
It's no longer about keywords, density and content - it's all about the reader.

Hi John,
Yes indeed the customer is becoming more discerning, but this is only due to the ever increasing amount of knowledge and information which is becoming more rampant on the internet - the ever evolving beast which we all subscribe to. However, since the potential purchaser will also spend time to browse for the best deals on offer, (s)he will also start to suffer from information overload, and what is required is that of a much greater clarification and directed, targeted information which would be available to assist the buyer in his / her purchasing decisions.
I guess that everyone has a responsibility to do their part to help streamline the processes of entertainment, education and enlightenment, in order to achieve maximum engagement. (I love the Venn diagram above).
Perhaps this is what will happen as part of the grid – not web /web 2.0/web3.0/ but more like the web8.8 – where we will all enjoy the benefits of the much heralded grid.
In the meantime, however, I will just enjoy playing this new and unique lotto style lucky numbers game with globalwonplus. I find that it is very entertaining, educational, enlightening and productive – very engaging as I am sure you will imagine, or you could check it out for yourself at http://www.whereeveryonewins.com
Good Luck
John
