The Three Pronged Attack
Sometimes people make Internet Marketing far to complicated. That's probably why new folks seem to suffer from information overload. Opinions on which approach to making money online are like bottoms… everybody's got one!
In the interests of keeping things simple, I recommend focusing on three main prongs of attack to grow your business. If you invest your time on these three things you are virtually guaranteed success:
- Content - I'm not talking about any old content, I'm talking about creating high quality articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, special reports, ebooks, software and any other types of content that will satisfy an established need within your target market. Clearly some of that content will be given away free and some will be sold. But, it's your content that will attract people to you.
- Traffic - Without traffic your blogs and websites need not be there. You must invest some of your time in driving the right people to your site. In my experience, the most effective traffic tactics are Pay Per Click, Affiliates and the distribution of articles and press releases.
- List Building – I've probably mentioned this thousands of times! When someone visits your site the best thing you can do is get them to subscribe to your list. If they then leave without taking any other action, you can still communicate with them. If they leave without signing up to receive anyemail messages from you.. you may never get another opportunity to connect with them.
Of course if you spend all your time on just one or two of those three prongs, your business will eventually suffer.
Without content you have nothing to sell. Without traffic to have no one to sell to. Without a list you have no relationships.
By consistently investing in all three activities you will build a successful online business.
